Microsoft Surface Pro Art Project
Microsoft invited me to produce 4 pieces of original artwork using the Microsoft Surface Pro; and taking inspiration from their favorite posts on Lost in E Minor – an online pop culture publication. Using their versatile new tablet Microsoft Surface Pro, I gave their technology an artistic twist, and created the pop culture mashups below!
1. HelloKitty Superman Gif, inspired from the Superheroes Made Even More Superb with Hello Kitty Makeovers.

2. Surfing Pigs, inspired from the beach in the Bahamas where pigs and people swim together.
Inspiration:
I tried many different directions for this piece before it was finalized. Originally I was thinking of making a pig swim like the baby on the cover of Nirvana’s Nevermind album in 1991; or making an animated gif of pigs riding an infinitely looping wave. But then I decided to approach it in a more classic and retro way, in a color woodcut style inspired by the Japanese “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” – the famous ukiyo-e woodblock print by Japanese artist Hokusai, from sometime between 1830 and 1833.
3. Spider Dog, inspired by an epic halloween dog-spider prank that left everyone who watched it on the edge of their seats.

4. Robin Williams & Gorilla Koko, inspired by a gorilla called Koko that tickled the great Robin Williams.
Inspiration:
I deeply respect and am inspired by the late Robin Williams. This art piece is not only a tribute to Robin, who is one of my favorite comedians and actors, but also a tribute to love between humans and nature.
The composition was inspired by the symbol of Yin and Yang. I wanted to show that Robin and Koko (human and nature) are interconnected and interdependent in our world, and also how they give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another.
